Angkor
Angkor Wat in the lake well we have definitely arrived in Cambodia! for those of u that i have not mailed we had a 15 hour trek to get here that involved lots of different types of transport! we made our first leg of the journey from koh Chang by ferry then onto the mainland and into a minibus or two until the border.........we then had our passports taken from us and visas issued in them. once through the thai border it was onto a set of Indiana Jones! well that's the only way we could describe it it was so strange! we had to wait for a tourist bus as the Cambodian guy informed us that 'we can not leave tourists here as bad things happen' hmmm interesting! once at our 4th bus of the day looking at the road ahead we realised what people had meant by the roads being bumpy! my god 5hrs of dirt track with pot holes and bridges that move when u drive on them!
we arrived in siem reap quite late but went to a guesthouse that we had seen in the guide books called mahogany house and it was exactly what it says in the name ha
Angkor
very peaceful in Angkor ha ha!
we bought a three day pass for Angkor Wat.....the first day we hired a guide to tell us the history and that he did he was fab and it was so interesting to know! the temples are spread out over 100sq km and there are loads....they are all so different and each has a different story to tell! we got lots of pics! (which hopefully you will get soon, the PCs here are like fossils and will not do it)
The next two days we spent looking at the remaining temples ourselves one day we went around on a push bike......stephens idea not mine but to be honest it was good fun and we saw monkeys who were stealing food off mopeds ha ha ha!
we are in a place called sihanoukeville at the moment it is a little resort that was used as a us base, but is now a Cambodian seaside resort it is like there Blackpool! but less busy and much less tacky!!!!! paying $6 a night for a very clean nice room fab. we plan to stay here until the 12th then we are on a bus to Vietnam where we will be for
Angkor
The bayon approx 3weeks.........we have a bit of planning to do as there are so many things to do and see there! so we will be taking up full advantage of relaxing on this lovely beach in the sunshine even though it is sunny at home i believe! typical hey!
