Before I start, let me first of all state that Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples are utterly amazing. Architecturally, and Structurally they are more impressive than any of the other ancient sites I've seen. However............The problem with Angkor Wat is that it is so damned easy to get too! Ta Phrom has been left pretty much as it was found. As a result, you have trees growing on buildings, which leaves to incredible root structures, and amazing pictures. Its like a set from an Indiana Jones film!

Tree growing on the roof, as they do! How did it survive up there?! I've also seen a tree growing on top of a tree. Bonkers....

The temple of Ta Phrom is fairly ruined, and there are lots of blocks of stone around, but is still most peoples favourite (Angkor Wat apart).

Looks just as though the tree is made out of wax and the roots have just melted over the building...

You can pay $15 and get a balloon ride up at sunrise or sunset. Last's about 15 minutes, but is good fun!

The actual Angkor Wat temple is surrounded by a huge square moat. Pretty impressive really.
