Sam Kadorian had experienced the genocide at a young age. He was captured and thrown into a pile with a bunch of other young boys between the ages of 5 and 10 years old. Then, the soldiers would shank or stab into the pile with their swords and bayonets. He then said he didn't dare scream or else they would have to kill him 'again'. By not screaming or giving any sign he was alive, it acted as a way to survive. He literally was facing death head on and was still able to remain quiet. Another reason why he was able to escape death was due to the fact that he was in the bottom of the pile. Even though he was able to survive that close to death encounter, he was left with a scar on his right cheek due to a bayonet cut.
