Packing the truck.
Judy and Wray Joiner of Kansas City flew to Africa to share our adventure to Victoria Falls and Chobe NP in Botswana. Judy and Rita worked as Dental Hygienists together for 23 years, so they are like sisters. The Joiners arrived a day late due to problems with their flight out of Atlanta. So unfortunately their vacation was cut short by a day. Once they arrived, they had a day to go up to Ukutula, to get some one on one time with some lions, then on the 20th we rented two 4x4's with roof top tents, and headed north out of Pretoria. We stopped for dinner at KFC in Mokopane. We only drove for about four hours on our first day so we could cross the border into Botswana early the next day. That night we stayed at Buffalo Thorn Safari Lodge. We had beautiful chalets with outdoor showers. The chalets we stayed in seemed to be brand new, but they have some kinks that they need to work out (mainly the water pressure), but otherwise they were very nice.

After a restful sleep, we went for a quick bush drive around the property, and then headed for the

border. In this part of the country the border between South Africa and Botswana is formed by the Limpopo River. Passing through Customs and Immigration was fairly ease, it took about an hour. From the border we headed north-west to the city of Palapye were we filled up the trucks and eat lunch. From Palapye we drove through Francistown and then headed to Nata, it was about a four hour drive. Arriving at the Nata Lodge about mid-afternoon left us time to walk around the lodge, settle into our chalet and set up Wray and Judy's roof top tent. Once the sun went down we had a nice dinner and played with some bush babies.
