I know, I know. I should be in India by now. There have been a few hiccups during this process, to say the least. I was offered a job by McCain in India, however because of some complications, I was not able to get a work visa to do this job. So if I want to work, there are two options... we move to China, or Gordon finds another job within McCain. So as it stands now, we are heading to China at the beginning of May to see if it is a place that we could live. Try undoing your life and rebuilding it again. As we apply for membership to certain organisations such as medical aid, pension funds and cell phone companies, you never really think that you will have to undo what you have just done. I’m discovering that I have to undo what took me years to set up. And then realising that I have to build it back up on the other side. Today has been a mass of paper work and admin. I find myself filling in masses of forms to apply for something I will need, or filling in forms to stop something that I will no longer need next year. Quite ironically I mentioned to my friend that you couldn’t pay me to visit India. This was before I came to know that Gordon and I might be moving there. India and China were probably the last place on earth I wanted to go. Neither of them held any appeal whatsoever. I would much rather have immigrated to a first world country, where it is clean and orderly, where you are able communicate with the locals and it is easier to integrate into the local culture. Gordon caught his flight from South Africa to Chicago, and we both knew that the next few days would be critical in determining the next 3 years of our lives.
