Welcome to the Cricket Without Boundaries Rwanda team blog!
I am part of a group of 13 mad volunteers setting off for Rwanda on 6th November on behalf of the Cricket Without Boundaries charity.
CWB has three main goals:
•To spread cricket through coaching children and teaching adults how to coach
•To link the sport to HIV/AIDS awareness and incorporate these messages into coaching sessions.
•To bring together and empower local communities through cricket.
Here we will bring you the highs, the lows, the tears, the tantrums and hopefully a whole lot of smiles and success stories. We aim to post every day of the trip so keep tuned in to all the goings on and follow our journey every step of the way- you'll feel like you are actually in Africa with us!
Over the next few weeks, you'll get to know the team - there are 13 of us for the first week and 9 for the second. I'm sure there will be some surprises and plenty of challenges along the way; being thrown together in Rwanda for 2 weeks is bound to bring out the best and worst in all of us but I'm also
sure we'll remember this trip for a long time to come.
I've put some photos up of last year's trip to give you a flavour of what it will be like in Kigali.
Only a week to go now before we set off, can't wait to get out there.
Signing off now, see you soon,
Rose x

Wishing you and the team good luck in Rwanda. Hope you have the same rewarding experiences and fun that we had in Botswana.
Cheers

Hey Rose and the team - the very best of luck to all of you on your adventure in Rwanda. It sounds like such a fascinating country to visit, and I'm sure that you'll successfully deliver the Cricket Without Boundaries message without too many 'tears and tantrums'....but let's hear about these too if they occur! Ha!
I'll be subscribing to the site and looking forward to reading about the trials and tribulations - if it's half as much of an adventure as our own recent trip to sunny Botswana you'll have a ball, I'm sure.
Incidentally, your challenges are thus:
1. To provide video evidence on this site of your whole team singing 'Jerusalem' at one of the schools that you visit in Rwanda
2. Submitting photo evidence of the teacher being trained by you guys, who possesses the most incongruous attire during your time there - we had Violet in Botswana who executed the perfect front-foot drive wearing a business suit and stilettos....
All the best
Mike G
Hi all,
hope you have a great time in Rwanda. If it is at least half as good as Botswana, you will love it and will come back next year!
Mike & Veronika
PS: pictures from last year??? tut tut
Have a great time in Rwanda.
I was there last year with CWB and had a wonderful time (apart from the obligatory bout of illness!)
My last posting didn't show so here goes again! With one day to go before we set off, I've been reading all about Rwanda and I'm getting excited about our project. Incidentally we don't appear on the map either! JK
