The children of Niger have a slim to none chance against fighting off disease. AIDS and malnutrition are two of the main components of child death in Niger. Kids that end up at the hospital have a 50/50 chance of surviving. The government has done nothing to help them either. The government ruled out the idea of giving free food to families in need, and instead decided to lower prices, although many families still can't afford the necesities to live. According to the article, "This year, Doctors Without Borders has treated more than 14,000 children at six centers, more than double the 2004 total." which is a good improvement, but there are still a lot of kids starving, sick, and dying. With erratic rainfall and severe food shortages, live stock and 12 million people are dying.
