This is Britt working on the Nutritional Guide we made for Kilonzi's office Hi Everyone!!
Again....thank you so much for the blog posts!
Jason - SO GREAT to hear from you!!! I have been thinking about you and wondering how things are going in the UK!! As soon as I got there, I knew you'd love it! I had an amazing time there, and I hope you experiencing everything you possibly can (oh and maybe doing a little school work while you're there too!) Its too bad the best bartenders at the Culbert Christmas are going to be absent...but I've been training that little Evan kid for quite a while on how to make a nice sharp drink so hopefully he can fill our shoes.... Take care cuz!
Joan - Thanks for writing again! I love hearing from you...and you are free to call my cell phone number to talk to Britt (or me if you so choose....haha) as much as you'd like!! It doesn't cost me a cent!!
Dennis - I LOVE the office updates! I can only imagine the shinanigans that are taking place....please continue to keep me posted!!
Momma - I just sent you and Grandma both a nice big e-mail at home...but thanks again for the wall post....loved it!
Dad - Ditto!! xo
Tina! - So great to hear from you!!! I was hoping someone would pass this website address on to you...I couldn't for the LIFE of me remember your badge number!! Would you please wish Mr. Reilly Sexton a very happy big birthday for me!!! And tell him I'm sad I couldn't be there this year to celebrate with him!!!
Ok....now for the update...
I guess I wrote last on Thursday...so I will start from there..
Friday morning we were told by Kilonzi that we were going to be helping with a "Feed the Children" program. This is a program that a few members of the community have organized, to help other members of the community. Basically Brittney and I were gathering information of women who apply for the program. They don't actually start recieving food until December, but registration was yesterday. In order to qualify, the person had to be HIV positive, have proof that they are receiving treatment as well as supporting 1 or more orphans. OR someone could apply for the program if they were 60 years or older, and supporting orphans. It was quite shocking how many women came that needed assistance
with food. Some of the women were caring for up to 7 orphans!
In the afternoon we did some laundry (BY HAND!!) It was probably the hardest work in the world...I didn't enjoy it at all!! I took me forever to get all of the soap out of the clothes, and I don't even think I got it all....from now on I have a feeling I might be wearing dirty clothes more often...
Last night dinner was alright...our big Friday night out was about a 30 second walk to the Coca-cola stand by our house to buy suckers! We were going to try to stay up and watch Titanic with Maggie, but by 9:00 we were dead tired and just went to bed....yep...we're pretty big party animals here!
Anyways...today is just another lazy Saturday at Junction!
I'm just going in to Nakumatt to buy some chocolate to celebrate Halloween the best way I know how!!!
Love you all,
-Denise

Mini Sticks
Great to see the toys you took being put to good use. Brittney doesn't look to good in the corners! Looks like the kids are really enjoying playing- must be hard to move around garbage etc. Hope you found some chocolate Denise! I am sure you are getting excited to head out on your trip in one week. I bet it will be bitter sweet. Brittney said you are going to an AIDS march. I am sure that will also be a learning experience. Look forward to your next entry. Joan
