We arrived safely in Nairobi this morning... definitely jet lagged but the excitement over powered our sleepy eyes. We were immediately greeted by our new friend Peter from the safari company we booked with. He was incredibly kind and gave us a tour of Nairobi as we sat in the early morning city traffic. When Jake asked Peter what his favorite kind of music was he proceeded to tell us about his love for country music! He even pulled out a cassette of his favorite country artist... Kenny Rogers (whom we listened to for the duration of our drive today)! After a warm welcome at the Savuka guesthouse (we are literally staying in the tour company owners home!), we headed out to the Nairobi National Museum. It was the perfect first stop in Nairobi as we learned so much about the history of Kenya, the archeology sites, the culture, and the animals we will be seeing very soon! Our evening was spent enjoying a home cooked Kenyan meal prepared for the two of us by the cook at the guesthouse.
Tomorrow morning we are headed out on our first safari. Day one will be spent at Lake Nakuru viewing flamingos
and rhinos followed by three days in Masai Mara, Kenya's most densely populated game park with all the big safari animals! Masai Mara is home to Africa's famous wildebeest migration. We will be camping in the national parks for a few days but will do our best to update you next weekend! 😊

I'm so happy to hear that you have arrived safely and even happier to hear that you are in good hands staying in the tour company owner's home. (I think that is because my entire bible study group is praying for your safety...LOL...) I can hardly wait to see the photos of your adventure! Lots of hugs and kisses, Aunt Julie
