The first day of this trip was a free day in Vic Falls and the next was heading to Chobe National park in Botswana. Border formalities done we arrived at the park and headed out for a game drive after a quick lunch. We saw lots of cool animals including a bunch of elephants and lions! We saw a pride of about 9 that were lounging around in the shade with some cubs playing with each other. Cute! A big win for me since I still haven’t had my full of lions being that we only saw 5 in Etosha lol. Some dudes grabbed our stuff to set up a bush camp and we met them for dinner which included some marshmallows to roast over the fire. Yum! We were warned about the different colored eyes ... read more

Geo: -18.5421, 24.5105After valiantly fighting off a near fatal African upset stomach despite a distinct lack of sympathy from DH, I was ready to take on the rest of our journey through Botswana which was to have a very large elephant focus (pun intended). Our next stop for the night was at an elephant watering hole and our accommodation was one of a number of little cottages that surrounded said water. I love the fact that someone in Africa thought it would be a good idea to surround a watering hole for the biggest land based mammal in the world with slightly shaky cottages filled with relatively tiny humans that these herds would need to navigate around or through as they came and went. Our stay here was relatively straightforward. We hung out with new friends ... read more

A two camera battery day. Highlight after highlight. Border crossing from Zambia to Botswanas. Amazing to see thee trucks lined up on both sides of the river waiting for the ferry to take them across One of the ferries is currently out of orderit can take 3 days or more to cross. We went across by skiff, had our passport stamped, disinfected our shoes in the foot and loth bath and drove to where we joined the cruise of the Chobe river. Saw lots of bird life , elephants, crocodiles, and hippos. They were everywhere. It was fantastic. Back to Chobe lodge for a buffet lunch. After lunch we went on a game drive - very bumpy and dusty . We saw giraffes drinking from the river. Fantastic to see the way they bend over then ... read more

Trailerne kunne stå 1-2 uker for å krysse grensa. Håper det for deres skyld.

Today we are off to Chobe National Park in Botswana. We had a 7:00am breakfast and we are expected to have our tents and bags packed before breakfast. We woke up at 5:45am so we could hopefully shower. Luckily the water supply had replenished. After a quick breakfast of bland cereal and untoasted bread we were off to Chobe. It was a short drive from Vic Falls but we had to cross the Zimbabwe/Botswana border. It was simple enough. However we did have to take all of our shoes off the of the truck and walk them over a disinfectant mat which is supposed to protect from foot and mouth disease. Shortly after we arrived at our campsite. We quickly set up camp, made sandwiches and set off for Chobe National Park. Chobe has the highest ... read more

Safari Safari is an adventure like no other. I surprised myself as to how much I loved it! I've never claimed to be an animal lover or a wildlife fanatic, but there was something about safari that changed me. Seeing animals in the wild, and learning about their behaviours was educational, and inspiring at the same time. We began our trip from Livingstone in Zambia, and were driven to the border of Zambia where the Zambezi and Chobe rivers converge, and where four countries meet each other (Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana). We took a short boat ride across the river to Botswana, and after clearing immigration we went towards Kasane, from where we boarded a boat for the Zambezi River cruise. The river cruise took us along the Chobe, between Botswana and Namibia. We took ... read more

Today we traveled from Maun to Chobe National Park. We were supposed to get in early but we encountered a flat on the way, which probably took way longer than it should have to fix but there are just somethings that you cannot control. Needless to say, this hiccup costs us a sunset cruise on the Chobe River (it was made up the following day). So we drove for assistance. While we waited for them to fix the flat a few of us played cards. I learned a new game. I am still deciding if it was made up by the Aussie's or if it was a real game.Amanda from Austrailia-complained, complained, complained. Complained about it being too hot. Complained about getting a flat. Complained about it taking long. Complained about being hungry. Complained about not ... read more
