the View from Mount Wellington
Tuesday up early again, legs abit sore from the climb up Mount Amos yesterday. But fortunatly still got loads of energy, as it's off to Mount field national park for the day. To start the day we head off up to Mount Wellington to take in the view at the top of hobart and the surrounding area. It's then on to Mount Field national park for a walk around Russel falls and abit of platypus spotting, altho we didn't see any platypus the waterfalls were really beautiful. but we did see some tazmanian devils at the wildlife park in the afternoon along with some koalas, kangroos and wallabys so all was not lost. Also saw a couple of ecidnas along the roadside. After a long day it was for us to leave Hobart and travel on to Launceston.

Another early morning and great day ahead. On wednesday our tour was taking us to Cradle Mountain, and the Marakoopa caves. First stop though the honey farm for a bit of honey tasting. I never knew that honey could so different, especialy the tazmania leatherwood honey. I think my faovorite would have to be the wildflower honey, really yummy. Came out of

the honey farm feeling abit like pooh bear. Next it was on to the cave's. Saw some really stunning sight's in there. All the staligtites and staligmites were really beautiful. Then when they swich the lights off and you can see all the glowworms on the roof. they almost look like stars. In the afternoon we traveled to Dove lake in Cradle mountian national park. Where we set off for a walk to get a better view of Cradle mountian by climbing one that stood around it. We were really lucky with the weather as most the time Cradle mountain is covered with cloud. spectacular day again.

Yey had a lie in of a extra hour, Great. Today Me and Roisin decided to go and explore Launceton. That mean's we head staight off to the city park, where have heard that that there are monkeys. which sure enough there is an enclosure contain about ten japanese marqued monkeys. After we thought we best go and check out the Catarak gorge. which is within walking distance from our hostel. once again it was well worth the exercise to see it. also stoped at the old sweet shop to watch the

He doesn't look very devilish!!
Your pic of the tazmanian devil is cool! I've never seen one before. Why are they called devils? - they don't look very devilish to me!!

Devils
they are called devils because they scream/snal when they are fighting for food or amonst them selves. so before they were discovered people used to think that it was the devil screaming in the distance at night. hense the name Tamanian devil.
