Ahoy!

Got a bit of time so here is the quick run down that i kept on losing earlier!

Just over 5 weeks ago we (George and I) arrived in Bangkok, our first port of call in a 5 month journey through South East Asia. Initially we had intended on spending a week or so in Bangkok but soon found that we had had enough after a couple of days, so headed to Koh Chang (Elephant island) and spent 10 days at a very cool bugalow operation called The Treehouse. We had an unbelivable time there, met some good people, drank a shit load of buckets and crashed our scooter on the mental roads! Following the 10 days on the island we headed back to Bangkok to check out the old coup! It was far less of a spectacle than i had hoped, if you wanted to see some action, not only would you need to search the streets but you would have had to fight your way through hoards of tourists who all wanted that photo oppertunity! This time we spent a week in Bangkok and ran into 2 friends and a girl i used to work with!
From Bangkok we headed south to Koh Tao (Turtle island) and spent about 10 days there also. Another really nice island, probably more beautiful than Koh Chang but not as relaxed an atmosphere. It may be something to do with the diving? Lots of the people there were heavily into it, maybe it has some strange effect on your ego! maybe it's the pressure! But even though we were privy to this knowledge we still enrolled on an open water diving course and guess what? It was wicked! saw loads of cool stuff down there but i wont go into all that now!
Left Koh Tao after the diving and headed slightly north to Ranong to renew our visas. This was a trouble free event and we had been invited to remain in Thailand for another 30 days by 0930 in the morning!
From there we moved south to Krabi for one night and then onto Reiley beach. Thjis place is really beautiful, surrounded on 2 sides by the ocean and 2 by huge limestone cliffs. It,s a huge spot for climbing, would loved to have had a climb over here but the weather was pretty bad. maybe in the north. Following the 2 nights in Reiley we headed to ao nang on a longtail and took a songthew (taxi) to ao luek, to a national park called then bok. This was quite nice but we only had access to a small area so checked it out and left the following day.
Koh phi phi was on the cards next and thats where we remain (until the morning). We have been here for the past week and its a very beautiful place but very crowded at the same time. lots of travellers and tourists. spent quite a bit of time snorkelling and kayaking, taken a longtail out to some of the islands, there's a lot to see. This is one of the islands which was quite heavily damaged by the tsunami and this is still apparent in places, one side of the island is virtually free from bungalows and bars whilst the other is rammed. It's really awful. lots of the smaller beaces dont have much land acces so it's not often that people go there, but we kayaked out to one the other day and there are still so many debris left over, peoples lives just washed up onto the beach, we collected together 100 flip flops on one small beach alone.
So tonight is our last night here, were off to phuket in the morning, ready for the vegetarian festival which begins on sunday!
over and out
