Hi everyone. Sorry we haven't been keeping our daily blogs for a while. We brought adapters with us to Korea but none that took a grounded outlet so we have been searching high and low everywhere we went and only just found one to recharge our laptop! Hopefully will catchup on our entries before we leave.

Woke up early and headed out towards
West Gate. (Seoul used to be surrounded by walls as a form of protection). Saw some funky steps at the Seoul music hall. Beautiful, wide clean streets. And lots of buses!
After a quick breakfast, we walked to
Seoul City Bus Tours ticketing area and bought a day pass to do hop on hop off to see main attractions in Seoul. There are a lot. Hint for those who have done hop on hop off before … in Seoul, while hop on hop off is “unlimited” it’s unlimited while you’re doing the route or “course” as they say in Seoul. You are allowed though only one course per ticket. We wanted to stay on an do one complete route, as we’ve done in Paris, London, Chicago, etc and then go back and hop off

Jon taking picture of girls rather than the West Gate! on the attractions that we wanted to see, but good thing Halahbujee saw this in the pamphlet we received with our tickets and said to get off at
Namsan Tower or Seoul Tower (N Tower) otherwise we would have had to buy a ticket for each of us again.
Built in 1969, N Tower is not as high as CN Tower (237 metres) but it is nonetheless a very visible landmark and sits in the centre of Seoul. The bus drops you off after a certain point and you have to climb up the hill to get to N Tower. Reminiscent of San Francisco, it is a 45 degree walk up for about half a kilometre. On a very hot day, that half a km feels VERY long indeed!
After the N Tower stop, it was back on the bus and we went through
Intaewon which is like an expat community with lots of foreigners. We didn’t get off there, but we did get off the bus at
Insadong. It is known as the best place to look at Korean art, paintings, clothing, books etc. Pretty street with lots of different stores. Too hot for Sophie to try
on hambok (traditional female dress).
Dongdaemun Design Plaza was next on the route. While the mall itself was closed (it was a Monday and in Seoul Monday appears to be a rest day for many attractions, the street was full of various vendors. We looked at bags, shorts, skirts, pants, jewellery – so many things to buy! In the end we bought a pineapple wedge on a stick for 1,000 KRW.
10 hours of walking. We fell asleep at 6:30p as soon as we got back to the hotel and didn’t wake up until the next morning!
