What can we say....like everyone said, the South Island is just AMAZING! more than amazing, so beautiful. Everywhere you look its a postcard. We are leaving tomorrow for the Glaciers but we have decided to come back here for three days after as its lovely. Its a SKI town and reminds us of when we have both been skiing, but its not too cold. Please see the photo of the beach with the snow capped mountains behind, thats how surreal this place is. In the middle of the town, is the Lake, which itself is surrounded by snow capped mountains. Wonderful. We may take a trip to Milton Sound which is supposed to be on par with the WOW Factor of Niagra falls. We may get a car and drive ourselves...all round 7 hour trip! But this place itself is all wow factor you can see just from our pics of two days here. Our hostel is located just on the edge of town, but a one min walk into town which is great. Its clean and really friendly staff. Its so funny as most hostels really accomodate dorms, and double ensuites are rare...snobs we know! But it took us ages to find our room number 27! We searched and searched, we had walked past our room several times not ever thinking that it would be the secluded LOVE SHACK in the middle of the complex, its just so embarrasing but great. Please see picture, its like a log cabin but written outside is "the love shack" and it even has a slogan that says "I Dont believe we have met...you have found Mr right" how coincidental!! Anyway our first day we just looked around, found our feet and went to the supermarket, we rustled up a nice beans on toast for dinner! Today we decided to do a tour...The secrets of Bungy tour, neither of us wanted to Bungy and that decision was made in the UK and also after the Sky Dive. We did the tour which was great and even got given a piece of Bungy. We were at the site of the first ever Bungy by AJ Hackett. The bridge was high and very scary. Amanda was busy chatting to some jumpers when she heard three girls who worked on the reception of the Bungy talking to Steve, within 5 minutes they had convinced him to jump and they got everyone to cheer him on. Next he was harnessed and on the ledge ready to jump. Then it was to late.......he was plummenting towards the river. He asked them to dip his hands in, they mis calculated and he is dead......only joking (that wasnt actually funny, sorry folks) they did miss calculate but he went shoulder deep. He said it was brill and god was he proud of himself. Amanda is jealous as she wasnt so brave. Three cheers for Stevie!!! Nothing like a spur of the moment decision.
