GEDC3273setting off
and saying hello to Mum and Dad, who are sheltering under the bridge well, it used to be called the dingy dawdle in the old days, and we have fond memories of cheerful boaters (including coracles) dawdling along the canal for the day, just for the fun of it. but its turned into something huge and fast, and is now a triathlon - you cycle 14 miles, boat 11 miles and walk 10, and its a race. Its quite a spectacle it must be said, but has become a bit of a dash, and seems to lack the camaraderie. Anyway, Alex and Ineke took part in the new Canadian canoe, and they dawdled about 6 miles and enjoyed it. Until some very strong wind got up and made progress difficult. So then I picked them up. I feel pretty weather beaten and all I did was walk a bit of towpath! Dad and Mum also came out to watch, Dad pushed her to the town wharf to watch the boats set off - some excitement too when an angry swan actually swam right up onto the front of someone's canoe - then we took her back with the boats bobbing along beside, and had some coffee with her.

lovely to see the bluebells again
but it looks a bit cold - isn't it nearly summer?
