So beautiful here. The mornings are filled with the sounds of birds just wonderful to wake to and add this view, WOW!
Our second day here at the lake. Having lots of fun exploring and walking around. Went up to the main market area this morning for some Arroz De Leche (rice milk) for breakfast. The last time I was here there were not so many cars but now seems there are so many Tuk Tuks and personal cars it is hard to walk on the road without almost getting run over. The people here are still so friendly even after being invaded with back pack travelers. They must think some are quite strange with their white skin and long hair dreads. Gla we are staying where we are which is off the beaten path and I do mean path, so nice they paved it, for so many years it was just a dirt path. Most of the restaurants are new but a few of them I remember from my last visit. Some people even look at me and ask if they should remember me which is a surprise considering it has been six years at least since last visit and 23 years since the first. People are always amazed to hear that I have been coming here for that long. Well enough

This is one of the three Volcanos on the lake. The volcano San Pedro. Lots of people climb this but not me!, Yikes! I remember Rick climbing this 23 years ago and he was hurting pretty bad for a few days!

We are on the second floor which has amazing views of the lake. A really nice hotel here in San Pedro. Have stayed many times but they have really upgraded everything and very environmentally conscious Guatemalan owners.

Great place to it with a cup of coffee in the morning and glass of wine in the evening. In fact sitting here now as I write this. The gardens here are so well maintained, it is just a piece of paradise.

This morning there must have bee hundreds of ducks out here fishing. Tried to catch one in the act of catching but they're quick!

Mostly all the travelers stay near the lake but the real town is much higher. We were heading up to the village to have a snack at the market.

Very religious here so many churches. This was one in the main square surrounded by well maintained gardens, a great place to people watch

Very busy place! They sell everything from meat, vegetables, tools and clothing. If you can't find what you need here you probably don't need it.

Beautiful church, I believe they called it in English the first church of Bautisas. The woman walking is wearing her traditional clothing. That is one of the neatest tings to see all the beautiful colorful clothing of the locals.

Coming back down the hill is so much easier than the walk up. Stopped here for some fresh OJ

They must get some nasty laundry around here with all the travelers. I guess that just want to let you know how good they will return your clothes.

It was a quickly planned trip
Be safe on your trip back to Montana. Having a great time here in San Pedro, a place I fell in love with 23 years ago. Although it has changed a lot, the people are still warm and happy to have Americans come to their homeland.

So glad you're having such a good time with my best friend, Vicki!
Everything looks so beautiful! I'm following your itinerary to see where you might be each day. Traveling vicariously through the two of you...and wishing I was there! Seems to me my husband and I have been overlooking some wonderful places to visit south of the border. Love getting the blog update!
