Spent yesterday exploring Antelope Island State Park, 40 miles NW of SLC. It is the largest island in the great Salt Lake. We saw herds of buffalo and antelope; and roamed throughout the Fielding Garr Ranch, which from 1848 to 1875 was a sheep ranch with as many as 6500 head of sheep. Lots of interesting outbuildings. Profits from the ranch were used during that time to bring eastern US Mormons to SLC area for missionary training. At noon, we ate buffalo burgers at the Buffalo Grill on the beach. Before you think "lovely" beach, we must tell you it smells pretty strongly from the presence of the brine shrimp!
Went to Saturday eve Mass at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. The Cathedral sponsors a Choristers School; and oh my, was the young cantor excellent (made me think of Erica Ancell too). A deacon preached powerfully on issues of immigration. All in all, it was one of the best liturgical experiences of this trip.
Broke camp in SLC this morning in the rain, and drove 205 miles to KOA campground here in Beaver. In the morning, we head to Zion National Park.

I I spent a day on Antelope Island last June. I was part of a conservation group. We were given access to areas that are normally closed. We saw quite a few bighorn and a couple of huge mule deer. It's quite a place. Your pictures are great.
