Of Course... So today we decided to head out to the big thing here in Grand Cayman, Stingray City. I let A make all the arrangements so it came as no surprise that we weren't taking a boat out there but jet skis. I actually think that was one of the best ways to get out there. We had a family from Jersey and one from Las Vegas with us but that was it.
Stingray City We took our jet skis out about 4 miles to a sandbar where there were several other boats docked. There actually weren't too many people there, the guide said on cruise days (M,W,F) there can be a thousand people out there, yuck. The water is so clear it is amazing and getting close you can see these huge black blobs underneath you. Here is where the panic starts to set in. Getting off and into the water is some scary business. The girl from Jersey was screaming right away and I just decided I would join her when I got in. Those things are HUGE and slimy and they get right up in your business. I screamed several times. I would put the video
of me feeding one up but you can barely get past the screams. Not which were unfounded when the thing sucked my hand up and gave me a nice "bite" on the thumb. Of course, I was probably jumping and screaming a wee bit to much so that didn't help. I did calm it down to "hold" one and get a "kiss" from it. Needless to say I prefer Rusty and his kisses any day.
Rum Point & Starfish Beach After that we headed to Rum Point and had a walk around the mainly touristy type bar and grill. Then we headed to a small beach where the starfish like to come up. I didn't scream this time holding the starfish but I kind of wanted to. You know me and fish. There was actually a wild dolphin in the area but some boat of tourist took it back out a little ways because it loves to play with anchors. Which seems kind of cool but it is rather sad as the story goes. Stinky, the dolphin, is very lonely and they say he got out of one of those dolphin encounter things on the island so he has
no pod to be with. Instead he likes the anchors of boats and hangs out around them and buoys. We did actually go over to see him, it made me kind of sad.
Bus Time We took a bus down into Georgetown to walk around there. These are like other island buses we have taken, you just kind of get on and tell them where you want off. We actually didn't find much but a lot of high end watch and jewelry stores. I did manage to buy myself a little something at the "Discount Diamonds" place, Caymanite stone. Interesting and pretty stone from the island but you definitely knew these prices were cruise ship dock crazy. Of course A asked where the discount was and when he drops the price in half you really wonder what the heck.
What do you mean there is no McDonald's? Seriously, no McDonald's. We did try the KFC, even though I thought it was mighty strange there was a rooster walking in the strip mall in front of the KFC.

Sad
No more sad stories in your blog. The dolphin thing was depressing.
