Day four was incredibly full, so in lieu of a clever opener, I'm going to get right into it!
We had a later start than normal because we got home so late after the Broadway show. The day began with a wonderful breakfast! Options included cereal, bagels, fresh fruit, and pastries. We even had an omelette bar! Needless to say, breakfast was a hit! As we drove into the city, Danielle and Donna pointed out several highlights, including the Meadowlands, home of the Giants and Jets. Our first official stop of the day was a cruise on the Hudson River. It ran a bit longer than scheduled, but we had an incredible view of Jersey City, NJ and New York. Our tour guide on the ship pointed out several highlights, including: One World Trade Center; Empire State Building; Brooklyn Bridge; the USS Intrepid, a decommissioned aircraft carrier that is now a museum; a golf driving range on a pier in the river; and Pier 54, the location that the Titanic was supposed to dock. The star of the cruise was the Statue ofLiberty! We weren't able to visit Liberty Island because the docs are still damaged from Hurricane Sandy, but the
weather couldn't have been better and we all got several dozen beautiful pictures! Once we disembarked... deshipped... whatever the word is, we had a driving tour of the city on our way to Times Square. It is one of those places that lives up to the hype! There was so much going on! We were there for a much needed lunch and of course, some shopping time. Once we finished there, we got back on the bus for more of our driving tour on the way to Central Park. When we arrived, we had a brisk, but very cool walking tour of Central Park. We began across from the famous Dakota Building. We walked through Strawberry Fields and got to see the imagine mosaic. Danielle and Donna told us some of the history of the park on our way to the iconic Bethesda Fountain where we stopped for some pictures and much needed restroom breaks 😊 Our last stop in the park was at the Alice in Wonderland statue where we took some really fun pictures! We then departed the park and headed to dinner. As usual, our wonderful tour directors highlighted several buildings, parks, and other important sites. Some
of the highlights included the shops on 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Center, and the Flat Iron Building. Dinner was at Schnippers and was very good! After dinner, we got back on the bus and headed to our Broadway show, Matilda! We arrived right on time and the show was AWESOME! Everyone loved it! Our final stop for the night was in Times Square for a scheduled group picture and some quick shopping time. It was a little busy and hectic for the chaperones' taste, but as usual, the kids handled everything incredibly well! We said goodbye to New York on the way back to the hotel for some much needed rest! It has been a whirlwind week so far and we are just getting to the halfway point. Thanks for reading and we hope you'll leave us a little note to pass along!
