It is the last day and we are blogging in the airport waiting to depart for home sweet home! While it was a short day in terms of sightseeing, we experienced a ton! We had a 9:30 appointment at Ford’s Theater where we learned about the Theater and Lincoln’s assassination. We all learned something, including Mr. Boren & Mrs. Bundy. They have done a tremendous job restoring and preserving the theater. The National Park service is in charge of the theater and they do a great job! After Ford’s Theater we headed to the Mall and the Smithsonian Museums. There were [View Full Entry]

Today was our first and only FULL day in DC and it was AWESOME! I don’t think the number of significant places we saw has sunk in. We started with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Mrs. Bundy’s students did an extensive unit over the Holocaust, so this was further reinforcement for her class. It was a somber reminder of an extraordinarily sad and tragic chapter in our world’s history. While at the museum, some of the kids got to meet Michael Korenblit and Kathleen Janger, the authors of Until We Meet Again, a book about his parents’ survival of the [View Full Entry]

I always want to start the daily blog with “what a day!” and today was no exception! We began with the Constitution Center in Philadelphia. It is an interactive museum dedicated to the Constitution. We began with a multimedia presentation which included video, graphics, pictures, and a live actor. The presentation gave a brief history of the United States and explained some of the ideas that led to the Constitution. It was a wonderful reinforcement of the material the students learned this year in class! After the presentation, we were free to explore the many interactive exhibits. [View Full Entry]

We are at the end of day 5 and we finally got home before 9:00! It has been a great day but we are all excited about having a little bit of down time. We started the day with a quick breakfast and then we were off to Ellis Island. We took a ferry from NJ to Ellis Island. From there we had the options to watch a short play, take a free guided tour, watch a short video, or explore on our own. It was a humbling experience to think about the millions of immigrants who went through those halls. [View Full Entry]

Another day in NYC is in the books and what a day it was! We started the day a little late (ask your kids about alarms clocks). Once we were all up and ready we picked up our tour guide, Kim and started with a driving tour. Our first walking segment of the tour was in Central Park. We spent about an hour walking and covered about 5% of the park. It is over 800 acres! Along the way we saw many artists and performers and ended the walk through the famous Strawberry Fields. After the park we went to the [View Full Entry]

Hello parents and friends! We FINALLY finished day 3 and boy are we tired! We started the day at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum. The tour started with a 17 minute film about JFK and his life leading up to 1960 presidential campaign. After the video we enjoyed a self guided tour of the museum which included countless artifacts and personal effects from President and Mrs. Kennedy. Highlights included a family bible with a family history dating back to the mid-1800’s which was used during his inauguration, correspondence between President Kennedy and Vice President Johnso [View Full Entry]

What a full day! We started with a great breakfast at our hotel here in Randolph, MA which is a suburb of Boston. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, pastries, yogurt, cereal, etc. We left the hotel at 8:30 to pick up our tour guide, Scott. He is a licensed tour guide for the Boston area and knew seemingly everything about the city and was with us all day! We started with a walking tour of an old Italian part of town. Along the way we saw the famous Paul Revere statue and had a tour of the Old North [View Full Entry]

We made it! It has been a long but awesome day! Thank you to all of the wonderful parents that got all of our travelers to the airport on time. Checking in was a breeze thanks to you! All of the flights went really well. The only semi-tense moment was a hard right directly after takeoff from Tulsa. We think they were trying to avoid the storms that were headed in. We had 7 minutes to get to our gate in Dallas, so we had a nice speed-walk/jog at about 10am! We arrived in Boston at about 3:00 eastern time and [View Full Entry]
