Kim: Hong Kong...amazing! So full of life, smells, sounds and everything in
between from a real mix of different cultures. We spent our four days
here being shown around by our very own local private tour guide
Louise, Greg cousin somewhat removed, who gave us an insider view of how to spend 96 hours in China's most well known city. It really
showed how much more you can learn/see/pack in when you have the local
knowledge.

Exploration of both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon both day and night lead to
a raft of new and interesting foods to try, and it was great to hit the
night markets and try a little bartering (on Gregs part!). Even with
all the people everywhere the city felt totally safe at all times,
probably because we looked like relatively poor tourist compared to
many others!

We took a few ferry rides, some bumpier than others and
the obligatory taxi ride driving way too fast down narrow streets, but
all very fun. We also spent two days exploring a few outer islands,
Lamma and Lantau, where we saw heaps of old style fishing villages, a
bunch of noisy Aussies dressed up as pirates, and of course the huge
bronze Buddha.

Late nights and long days of walking and absorbing everything and so
so much food left us pretty stuffed for the flight onto Venice.
However that was ok as we had a two hour delay to sit on the
plane to catch up on sleep… and write blogs!

Will let the pictures do the talking as far as the details go... next up Venice, Italy!

Great photo's and very interesting comments. We've never been to Hong Kong and now we won't need to go.
