Ola

We finally arrived. The actual length of our journey from Toronto to Cuzco took 19 hours but with the time difference it took 20 hours. Phew! After such a long flight we went directly to our hotel. A very nice place that was started by a dutch woman who decided to do something for the numerous children she had seen begging and working on the streets. Believe me there are many!! She started by renting out small rooms and gave two street children the opportunity to live in her house. Two hotels later and a restaurant only for the children she has begun to build a wonderful legacy that helps many.

Today we just layed low. We're at an elevation of 3400m. It's taken us a couple of days to acclimatize to the altitude. But drinking Coca tea sure helps. It doesn't taste bad either!!!!! Since most of the museums were closed, we decided to head to the Ruins of Sacsayhuaman (pronounced sexy woman). I have never seen ruins that spanned an area so big. As you will see in the pictures. The rocks are hugh. The view from Sacsayhuaman is fantastic. You can see the whole city of Cuzco.

The weather so far is great. A balmy 18 degrees. The nights are cold.

Tomorrow we continue with the Tourist thing in Cuzco. We will be checking out some of the muesums, churches, convents. Then the next day we'll head off to Machu Picchu. Wahoo!

The question that I bet everyone is dying to know is if we had Cuy yet? No we haven't ventured into the ethnic food yet! Last night we had pizza and spagetti. How original (LOL).
