Last Monday may have been on New York...and next Tuesday will be on the plane on my way to Africa. But home is where my heart is...and that where my two little loves are...home is today clearly in Buenos Aires!

I had no plan for this entry....but at the same time, I had not much planning done by last Wednesday for this week-end. Put it simply....in South America...planning is nice....not alway useful....but at the end of the day, what is meant to happen...is happening....and this week-end meant to be pretty amazing...even if I had no idea about it at lunch time on Friday!

On Saturday morning we started by visiting the Casa Rosada, the office of the president. Ok, it is also the famous place where Evita appeared on the balcony. The visit was pretty nice....and our guide agreed with us in english....as he said...my job ends at 4pm...and from 4pm, I have my opinions...cannot wait for the 2015 elections. As they say here...Basta!

You can visit the place every Saturday and Sunday, it's free, you just have to queue for few minutes and they provide bilingual tours...pretty interesting...specially the english one where the guide can go a little more "creative". You even have access to the Presidencia office....imagine having access during the week-end to the Oval office...well...that was the only place where we couldn't take pictures, which is quite understable.

Our next stop was few hundred meters from there visiting the Cuberta Uruguay, a boat which used to supply all the Antartica bases...interesting and fun for the little ones.

We than made our way to Palermo Hollywood, to La Pescaderia for what would be our best paella over the last 3 months....amazing! Late afternoon, with the sun out...nothing better than enjoying our cool terrace...ah, I love this city!

Our Sunday was more of a last minute affair. The kids are going to school outside of Buenos Aires...as they call it here...in the Province. Next door from the school is the Hurlingham Club....old fashion style english club....they have a swimming pool (for summer time), tennis, polo, horse riding, golf...the all lot!

The kids play around in the morning, as they also have everything in place for the little ones. And me, I went to grill on the oldest golf course in Argentina, 1888 was the year...an old lady we call it here! It may be spring here, but I can tell you, I was a proper lobster by the end of the 18 holes.

Next was an impressive afternoon. There are three big polo tournaments per year in Buenos Aires. The best one is in Palermo in middle December in Buenos Aires. I was lucky to assist to that one some 7-8 years ago. Hurlingham is number two...which means still super high quality....and the final was indeed an amazing match...with top worldclass players...wow! And what is best, all this is done in a pretty relax atmosphere...here it's about the fun, the polo...and ok, few drinks to keep everybody happy. And if you ask how expensive this polo experience is....well, 8usd for three of us to go in....plus free flow of wine....and yes, it's eight, I didn't forget a zero! We bumped in few people from school...the kids had a wonderful day...me too by the way!

This Monday is slightly different....huge thunderstorms have hit the area last night, half of the city is flooded....kids are at home as it's too risky to drive to school....and I've got to fly out tomorrow to Africa...wondering what the next 24 hours will bring us....but I know next week-end is another massive party...Congo style!

And if you want to know, the tuffest day for us in Argentina...will be the day we have to leave...I cannot tell you how much three of us love this place!

just passing
I was randomly surfing the blogs amazed by the things i'm learning. Surprisingly, i've been living almost my whole life in Buenos Aires and I've never been to a polo match, maybe it's because I had the feeling that it'd be too expensive and i wouldn't be able to enjoy it. But 8usd... it's worth the try! We'll give it a chance next time.
