Edit Blog Post

Hello and a warm welcome to this edition of our travel blog.

So, we've boarded a boat from Bali to the Gili islands...it was a boat ride from hell. The waters were so choppy, people were being sick...not us from t'shire, though, we held firm. Thankfully, we arrived at our destination in one piece, if not slightly green and it was well worth it!

Gili Trawangan - in the words of inspector Gadget, 'wowzers'. The Gili Islands comprise of 3 islands, beautifully clear blue waters, sandy beaches and incredible diving.

We went back to school...scuba school. We spent the first day in the pool practising various skills, like sharing air supply, taking off our masks and putting them back on again, ALL whilst under the water. We revised on evenings and passed our exams....obviously.

We went on 4 dives, starting by descending to 12m, but by our 4th dive we were at 18m. We were spoiled with sealife, GIANT sea turtles, the incredibly poisonous Lionfish and Scorpionfish, clownfish, giant pufferfish, Giant Moray Eels amongst other weird and wonderful stuff! I decided to go on one more dive just to say that I'm more of an adventurer than
that Emma, lass. I dived to 21m and met a 2m long White tip Reef Shark.

SO....We are now qualified open water divers...unbelievably Emma and I can dive to 18m all by ourselves...this doesn't seem correct, but it is...I know what you're thinking and yes, Emma finally ditched the armbands, she was struggling to get beneath the surface with them on.

We enjoyed Gili T so much that we stay an extra night and although it rained heavily most of that extra day, we strangely welcomed a downpour....sickening, eh?!

We'll try to get some decent pictures uploaded soon.

Now we're in Lombok and Sengiggi. We're staying in a small boutique place called 'The Sheraton'...but tomorrow morning at 3:30 am we head to climb a mountain in Borneo and meet some Orangutans.

Until next time, bonsoir.
