The entire team rolled into Romania from various parts of the US and a few from Brussels (early travelers)! We enjoyed each other's company last night at Carul cu Bere which seemed to be the most popular place in town. The waitor put together a spread of appetizers including traditional mix of tomatoes, cucumbers, red peppers, eggplant, various cheese (sheep, head, cream) and meats (liverwurst, sausage, raw bacon). Paul found it challenging to try everything while others grimaced. Once to the main courses, we saw a mix of stuffed squash, cabbage leaves, and wine leaves with mincemeat, while others select various sausages or chicken dishes. Compliments included 'baked potato', beans, or palenta.

Most of us tried the local beer as well as 'Carlsburg' -- a beer from Denmark. Don and Britt were pressured into dancing with the local entertainers. They had a group of 2 girls and 2 guys that completed wardrobe changes as they performed everything from traditional dances to American fox trot and swing dances.

Once the food coma hit, we all started to fade. We wandered the street to find banks for money exchange as well as mini-marts to stock up on water (you should see the size of the one Ray picked up) and cold versions of caffeine for morning.

There was general agreement to get up Sunday morning on our own and big talk of early morning runs and touring. In reality this morning, Mike, Ray and Heather are the only ones accounted for at breakfast, so we'll have to see when the rest rise before our 11 AM bus trip to Comanesti - 5 hour drive!

It's nice to have the technology to share with loved ones back home, as well as maps on iPhones for showing taxi drivers where we want to go. Thanks for following our blog and wishing us well as we share the experience of 'The Thrivent Way' this week.
