Cape Town, our last stop on our nine months long trip which has given us so much – good and bad times. Few hits have been hard to manage but it has included several great life lessons. Both of us agree that we wouldn’t do such long trip again in the same style… hitchhiking, staying with the locals and experiencing the real African life. Today we appreciate the life in a different way and it has been a challenge for our relationship but we came just closer to each other 😊
We have finished our trip in the most beautiful city in Africa – Cape Town. Indeed it is a cross-cultural city with a great vibe and it has been great to finish up here instead of going from Cape Town to Nairobi. This is because the more North you are moving in Africa that harder gets and starting in the easy to travel Cape Town going towards places like DRC of the Congo just is not the same as going the other way. Anyway, Cape Town has nice markets, Long Street and the crowds especially in the evenings, beautiful architecture etc.
Of course Table Mountain is the main
attraction in the city and it is impossible not to notice it. We decided to hike up as we could take more in of the wonderful view and save quite a lot money as it is ridiculous expensive to take the cable car. Actually it wasn’t so hard to climb which many people have mentioned although it gets a little harder closer to the top but when you get finally up and see the amazing view from the top so you understand that it was worth to do it. We were lucky enough that Table Mountain wasn’t hiding under a gigantic cloud as it has been few days in the row. On the top you have 360 degree view if you are walking around a little bit.
It also happened that our friend, Stephanie from Germany was visiting Cape Town at the same time and it was amazing to catch up with her. Actually it is a little funny that we have met her three times and three different continents, and probably we’ll meet her fourth time in the fourth continent next time 😊
Well the week wasn’t enough to spend in this beautiful place but the winter
was sneaking slowly to South Africa and our time run out. We did manage to get a couple of tourist activates in before heading home and one favorite would have to be the game meat dinner. Restaurants scattered throughout the city offering pretty much the same thing we took the chance to dine on some of those animals we have been chasing around for the past few months. Some good and some not so good…
Definitely we have fond memories for a lifetime and it is hard to understand that you are heading back home, and a new chapter is waiting for us. Both of us got tears in the eyes to leave this colorful continent and thankful that we were able to experience this place. Actually we are really grateful for our family, friends and our blogs reader who were ‘travelling’ with us and we always felt your presence with us!
We don’t say bye to Africa but see you soonish! 😊
