Some people were born to travel...and Fifi is one of them. After a quick hop down to SF, we had dinner and a glass of wine in the Red Carpet Club, and changed the monkey into jammies for the overnight flight. After about an hour of iPad and playing with her new Elmo from Aunt Krista, she put her head down on my chest and slept...for the rest of the flight. Amazing.

We woke up to the sounds and smells of breakfast about an hour out of London, and touched down at Heathrow 10 hours after leaving SF. We then had to hike for about 2 miles through Heathrow to get to immigration. Hank grabbed a giant coffee and we headed for the Underground. It took about an hour to get to our station, Euston, but Fifi loved smiling and chatting up the locals.

The hotel was perfect - right next to the station and rather like a dorm room, but economical (important when visiting London!), clean, and quiet. First order of business after dropping off suitcase was to find the best local "local" for a pint. This turned out to be the Bree Louise. Not only amazing beer/cider, but specialites of meat pies...we got the chicken, leek, and ham with a giant side of double creamed mashed potatoes with brown gravy...YUM. So, with only a few hours in London, we hopped back on the Underground and headed (per Julia's suggestion) to the Embankment.

The Thames! Parliament! Big Ben! Whitehall Gardens! Another pint at St Stephens public and another at the Red Lion! Then back to our little neighborhood for some amazing, delicious, did I say amazing?? curry! Fifi dove right into a plate of rice and peas, while Hank and I each had a platter of tandoori chicken and a lamb curry dish.

During all of this, Fea laughed, ran through the park, waved "Hi" to all of the Londoners and was generally the best kid ever. 😊
