Sicily, from Coast to Coast

Hello All

For the last 4 days of our trip to Sicily we decided that a bit of R & R was in order, so we chose two of the islands most famous beach resorts, Taormina & Cefalu.

Taormina is on Sicily’s Ionia coast famous for its warm crystal clear water. Its Idyllically perched on a rocky promontory high above the sea, Taormina has been the most popular tourist destination in Sicily for a couple of hundred of years. It famous for its beautifully restored mediaeval buildings, breathtaking views around every corner and a giddy network of winding streets strewn with shops, bars and restaurants. In my opinion it has to be one of the top holiday resorts in Europe.

Added to this the town offers fantastic views of the coast, with Mt. Etna towering behind the town and can be seen clearly smoking from its active craters. Taormina also has was must be the most incredible Roman amphitheatre that is located high above the town and opposite Mt Etna with fabulous Panoramic views.

We only had two nights in Taormina but I could easily have spent a couple of weeks relaxing on the beaches of Isola Bella and strolling the streets of the main town.

Cefalu is located on the Northern coast of the Sicily on the Tyrrhenian sea and only an hour from Palermo, so in peak season it can get pretty busy. Celafu is one of the Mediterranean's undiscovered jewels. The epitome of picturesque grandeur. built in the shadow of a steep mountain. Cefalu has a beach, winding, narrow, medieval streets, and delightful restaurants overlooking a rocky coast. All under the ever present gaze of the Norman-Arab-Byzantine cathedral, one of the greatest churches of southern Europe.

It’s a Fascinating place to visit and one that I wish we had more time to explore in depth.

Okay, didn't know you could actually comment on photos until I saw that Emma had done it - now I know! What an amazing view - blue sky and Etna in the background. Think I'm going to have to take a trip to Sicily...

T10 and T11. Love the way you can see down the archway and the next one, like the colours and the sense of age and the angel. you two look like you are enjoying your food.

it reduces glare and allows you to have more vivid colours depending on how you set it

Hello I used a technique call HDR which is High Dynamic Range (Google it) but you basically take a range of shots at different exposures (I think I used 5 for this) then blend them together to create an image that has all the detail of the 5 images
