Mozambique Africa » Mozambique
Greetings from Africa Here is our blog for Mozambique, which has been one of our favourite countries so far. The first thing that hits you about the country is the size of it! And north of the Zambezi river how un-touched by tourism it is. The country is very different between north and south with the south being close to South Africa and much more setup for tourism. Mozambique is the only country that the British did not at one time rule or have as a protectorate so it had a much different feel to it because of the Portuguese influence [View Full Entry]

Malawi Africa » Malawi
Well it has been a while since we have updated our blog we are getting a little behind. We have now driven across Africa from the Atlantic Ocean at Walvis Bay, Namibia, to the Indian ocean at Inhassoro, Mozambique. We are sat in a campsite at Inhassoro which it just over half way down the coast drinking a cup of tea, how very English of us, and yes it is tetleys brought all the way from England (it is a little early for wine time). But before we get to Mozambique we have missed out a country, Malawi…. We arrived in [View Full Entry]

Zambia Africa » Zambia
We made the journey from Livingstone to Chipata 1048 km in three days. The journey can summed up in a few words, bikes, hills and villages. Zambia is Africa’s China, push bikes seem to be the main means of transport, who needs a car when you can fit four people, or a weeks worth of firewood on a bike? We passed a lot more villages throughout Zambia than anywhere else, and the scenery was again beautiful lots of valleys and hills and surprisingly green. The people of Zambia were really interested in talking to us and we now have a [View Full Entry]

After spending a few days in Maun getting ourselves organised and the Land rover fixed ready for our trip through the centre of Botswana, 550 miles through Moremi, Savuti and Chobe. We would spend 8 nights travelling through these areas which can only be described as wilderness areas. They are all national parks with lots of game and very rough 4 by 4 tracks, but no food, water or petrol so we had to pack all our supplies, plus extras in case we hit any problems. So we did all this…but nothing can prepare you for what it was like, there [View Full Entry]

Sept 21-26 Arrived in Maun and booked a last minute trip to the Delta, for the next day. The Okavango Delta is the world largest inland delta, and one of the few delta’s in the world that does not drain into the ocean, instead all the water from the Kavango river floods a huge area of Botswana and slowly drains into the Kalahari sand. We got a great last minute deal to one of the best camps in the delta called the Kwara camp for three nights, very excited as we will have a bed and its all inclusive so free [View Full Entry]

Namibia to Botswana Africa » Namibia » Rundu
After Etosha we headed up to the Caprivi Strip which runs along the Angolan border, we stayed a couple of nights at a nice campsite on the Kavango River which is the natural border between Namibia and Angola. Local people were crossing freely between the 2 countries on small boats, but as there is currently over 2 million unexploded landmines in Angola we decide to stay in our campsite. The next day we headed to the border, passing through customs to Botswana was surprisingly easy. The main roads are a lot better in Botswana so covering ground quite quickly, only problem [View Full Entry]

Greeting from Botswana, we are sat in a airport waiting for our flight into the Delta here is our Etosha blog Like Kevin Myers’ life long dream of climbing killamjaro, Adam to has a long standing ambition. Ever since his dad bought him the video “The lions of Etosha” when he was 10 years old he has always wanted to visit this unique place, lets hope it will be worth the wait, as we all know that was a long time ago… We drove to Etosha from Palmwag 350 km, the first 200 km were bump after bump, we hit tar [View Full Entry]

Walvis Bay Africa » Namibia » Walvis Bay
Greetings avid readers (at least I hope) Here is the latest update of blog starting with the boring bit (waiting for the Landy) Walvis Bay is very quiet. A picturesque place just again very quiet, surprisingly so seen it has the only deep water port on the west coast of Africa and is the second largest town in Namibia. Its main attraction is its lagoon which attracts dolphins, seals, pelicans and flamingos. We saw a seal jump on a boat, no dolphin sightings. There were lots of flamingos to see as you walked around the lagoon they were all feeding on [View Full Entry]

Northern Namibia Africa » Namibia »  Kaokoland
Hello all I hope you are well What a week we have just had!! 750 miles of unpaved roads ranging from deep gravel to filling loosening ruts and bumps that seem to shake you apart I am not going to blog all the individual places so this one will cover Northern Namibia up to Etosha The landrover was well worth waiting for, after picking it up we headed inland to Spitzkoppe Mountain on the way we started to experience what we both had in minds as the ‘real’ Africa. First night camping went well. We wild camped at the base of [View Full Entry]

August 30-Sept 5 Had a great day today, met two guys from South Africa last night who were staying in our backpackers, Adam joined them for a whiskey and we got chatting. They were really good guys who kindly invited us to join them today to go dune boarding and quad biking in Nambi desert. The dunes were amazing, I have never seen such a big desert and we only saw 1 tiny section, the dunes carried on as far as the eye could see. Then on the other side there was the ocean. The drive there was surreal with huge [View Full Entry]
