This piece of land in the photo lay unused for 11 years. There are three beautiful acres that lay barren because no one had the time or resources to invest to make it into something worth value. No weeds were pulled, no soil tilled, no seed planted. What could have been prosperous and plentiful lie dormant and fallow. Then…there was a vision. ITHM, Pastor Stanley, Alice and some hired help took to this piece of land, turned over its soil, pulled out those weeds and lay seed. What one person could not do, many people did, together. We created the second Giving Garden. The seed sprouted and now there are three acres of life sustaining nutrients. Food to nourish hungry bellies. Life is sprouting out of that ground. I think of the numerous children that’s hearts lay like the untouched soil. They are deprived of the nutrients of love and all that grows in their lives are chaotic weeds. Their hearts are muddied by countless tears. And to make any sense of the mess it would take time, effort and even some sacrifice on someone else’s part. Some of those children were seen by Pastor Stanley and Alice…then…a Water storage
At the Giving Garden vision was born. For over 350 of those children they cared enough to stop and listen. They talk about the problems, turning over the soil of the children’s hearts, preparing it for seed. Weeds of sadness and bitterness are gently pulled as seeds of love, the Word of God (the ultimate nourishment) and education are planted. Now their hearts are sprouting life. A harvest of vision is growing, education is being rooted within their minds and they are bearing fruit. What once was dormant and fallow is now alive and thriving. Tears of abandonment and loss have been replaced with hearts full of hope for something better.
Words honestly cannot express the gratitude I have in my heart for those who work together with us with the goal of rescuing the discarded treasures, the forgotten children. Many of you have supported me, or a child, or a project and together we have supported numerous activities that have touched even more children than I ever dreamed of being able to help. We are a on a roll and I ask that you continue to partner with us in prayer, with financial donations, by invitations to come and share at your church or group, or maybe even going yourself to offer the sacrifice of comfort in order to love a child in need.
The rescue center, Talitha Koum, at Spring Valley Academy just completed the shell of the third floor. That means at least 100 girls will find a place to call home. Floor number four will be started soon (which would house another 50) and we are hoping, praying, asking and believing for another $15,000 to complete the structure of the fifth floor. This floor will become a library, computer lab and study room where the school children can expand their horizons by reading, and learning to use a computer. We are thankful for our Colorado friends that have given money to pour a cement floor for the family who’s house was swept away in the latest floods. During the rainy season you don’t go inside to escape the mud when you have dirt floors…having a cement floor in their two room house will make a world of difference for sanitation and comfort. Hand in hand, we work together. What one person can not do, many of us can do together. Please “like” International Treasure House Ministries on facebook…that is, if you really like us. Help us spread the word and spread the love to these children.
