A fancy restaurant in Florence

One of my favorite restaurant in Florence city center is I 4 Leoni. It is located in Piazza della Passera, a small and hidden square few steps from Pitti Palace and Santo spirito Church in the Oltrarno.

It is a famous and fancy restaurant that is always very busy and sometimes you can meet famous actors, both Italian and foreign such as Lucy Liu or Leonardo Pieraccioni. Look at the pictures on the walls to find out who else have been here.

Even though it's a famous restaurant here you find good quality food. In particular I 4 Leoni is specialized in traditional Florentine cuisine. Here you find only grandma's original recipes.

You eat the traditional Ribollita, a typical soup made of bread and Tuscan kale, Pasta e Fagioli and the great Fiocchetti in salsa di taleggio e asparagi, that is pasta filled with pears served with a creamy sauce of taleggio and asparagus. De-li-cious!

Then you taste Peposo all'Imprunetina, dating back to Brunelleschi's age. It is a kind of stew cooked for hours with lot of black pepper and red wine. Other specialties are the classic Tagliata, Florentine steak cut into pieces, and Granfritto dell'Aia, that are fried meat and vegetables.

Don't forget to leave some space into your stomach for having some cake. All cakes are home made and are different every day.

The only flaw of this restaurant is the coffee. If you are an espresso lover don't order it here, because here you find just American coffee.

I 4 Leoni is a fancy reastaurant but it's not expensive. You can have a full meal for about 35 euro per person. Of course the price depends on what you eat and what you drink. I strongly suggest you reserve your table if you intend to have you meal there!
