A short climb up some steps from Piazza del Popolo and you get an incredible view of Rome and Vatican City
This blog entry is brought to you by Jake, Nicholas & Emily.

How many Piazza's, statues and collosal buildings can you see in three days? Nowhere near as many as there are in Roma.

Today we decided to stroll the streets and visit some places that don't cost a fortune to experience - Villa Borghese and its surrounding gardens, Piazza Venezia incuding the Foro di Traiano and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, The Pantheon and the famous Fontana di Trevi.

Emily started the day off with some shopping, buying a wooden Pinnochio toy from one of the stalls in Via del Corso. She also had her eye on some keyrings but decided that Pinnochio was the best use of her money. Her favorite part of the day was visiting the Trevi Fountain. She made three wishes but they are secrets - they won't come true if she tells (actually, throwing a coin in the fountain is meant to guarantee your return to Rome - Damian hope she returns one day, just not with him). Also, the gelato from Grom was very nice.

Nicholas started the day in lazy way and did some shopping with Sue, helping her pick a pair of jeans and top. At about 1pm we set off for a stroll through the gardens at Villa Borghese and had a kick of the footy and a lie down on the grass. Then we took off towards Piazza Venezia and climbed the steps at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The building is enormous and looks like the Whitehouse. We then visited the Pantheon but we didn't stay long - the crowds were huge and Jake, Emily and Sue were desperate for gelati. We waited in line at Grom for an eternity to buy a gelato, but it was worth the wait - belissimo!! After our treat we visited the Fontana di Trevi, threw in some coins and took some photos. The weekend in Rome is absolutely packed with people and we were glad to get back to our apartment for some pasta!

Jake's contribution to this blog is as follows: "The gelato was yum."

Today was our last day touring Rome. It's an amazing place and we could spend weeks here trying to see and experience everything, but we'll be glad to leave the hustle and bustle of the city. Tomorrow we collect our car and attempt to drive out of this crazy place towards Amalfi.

Damian went for a walk in the morning to find the rental car office, visited Via Veneto and Harry's Bar and also managed to pass some Gentlemen's clubs - they have these here too.

Round 1 - The loss we had to have
Hey Carol, thanks for letting us know about the result. We were following it quarter by quarter around the Vatican City. Oh well, we'll have to settle for a 21-1 season.
