We take a long, hot walk to see the elusive blue footed Boobie birds. Alas, we see only one and it is perched high on a rock too far away to see its feet. On my last sailing trip from California to Hawaii, we had a red footed Boobie sit on the end of the boom for 24 hours when we were still three days out from land. Its feet were bright red. These blue footed Boobie’s feet are apparently bright blue, though after looking for them for the past two weeks, I am beginning to think they are mythical. We have a cool swim in the ocean which is very refreshing.

Well. . .this afternoon we finally get our autografo which is our authorization to travel on our boat to three other ports. We are running out of time, so will head only to Academy Bay on Santa Cruz mostly for provisions and to top off water and fuel one more time before the long passage to the Marquesas. We have enjoyed being here, but not the feeling of confinement that has been imposed upon us.
