Our week here in Raratonga is coming to an end and we are now on our last day. The week here has gone very quickly indeed and on our last full day we have been treated to fabulous weather. The sun is beating down on us with the heat tempered by a warm island breeze, making it a perfect day for spending on the beach.

The last 24 hours have been exciting, as we have been in the middle of a tropical storm the name of which we cant remember, but it had previously been over Fiji and decided to drop in on us during Friday night. We awoke at 3am to the loudest rainstorm we have ever heard. So Saturday we got up early to watch the Rugby and were disappointed to learn that it was cancelled due to the bad weather conditions in Paris. Our disappointment was not over as the day turned out to be full of sunshine and showers with a bit of lightning thrown in for good measure. Despite this meteorological setback we opened up the roof on our little car, which over night had turned into mobile swimming pool, and went into the town for the Saturday Market. An interesting experience likened to a primary school Summer fete.

Last night we had dinner in a restaurant right on the beach front and had dinner while the sun was setting. It was a fantastic view and later when it had got dark we were able to see the stars. They look so much brighter here as there is no light pollution.

In one way we will be glad to move on as its quite expensive here for things like milk and meat, we hope that this is the last time we will have to pay £4 for a bottle of milk that tasted ok but was past its sell by date by a week or more.

Over all this lovely island has done what we wanted it to, which was to relax us and to ease us into "Island time"so we can leave here tanned and relaxed and ready for our adventures in New Zealand. We are sure that our Doggie friends will miss us but will survive.

PS to our Niece, Jane picked up a little something for you today watch out for the postman.
