hi everyone,

We are starting our journey to Bali , but before we continue, let me tell you about Siem Reap where we spent 5 days and 4 nights. Although we only spent 1.5 days touring the temples and ruins of Angkor Wat theres numerous things to do it Siem Reap. We visited a silk farm , we both were fascinated by the process. The farm actually grows mulberry trees so the worms have leaves to eat. Once the cocoon is produces, they boil it to extract the silk.

We did our usual walking. We rented bikes for the day and decide to ride the 10 klm bike to Angkor Wat to see the sunset, it was a great idea, obviously the pics don't do it justice, but hope you will enjoy them. We decided to keep the bikes for another day and bike back for sunset, we left the hotel @ 5.00 AM to enjoy the incredible sun rise over Angkor Wat revealling a stunning silhouette. We purchased a history and guide book and continued on to Anghor Thom ( a wall city about 10 sq klm in size, and at it's peak around 1280 AD had a population of about 1 million,at a time when london had about 50,000) , BAYON (its 54 gothic towers are famously decorated with 216 enormous coldly smilling faces), Elephant terrace (was used as agiant viewing stand for public ceremonies), Preah Khan (housed around 1000 teachers and might have been a university), Ta Prohn (where tomb raider was filmed) the total circuit was over 40 klm and the weather was over 30 celcius and very humid. We retuned back at 4.00, so a long exhausting wonderfull day it was. If you havent google angkot wat, you should or would like to borrow the book , it should give you an insight. Our last day was spent laying around the pool and just relaxing. We left the next day for Bangkok , we stayed overnight at the airport to catch the 6.00 Am flight out.
