I'm sure none of you would ever expect this from me... but the first free weekend, just guess where I went?! yea, the beach. It was incredible. We took a three hour bus ride to "Huan Hin Beach" The ride there and back cost 7dollars. Yea, doesnt get much better than that. We stayed in a family guest house/hotel. They took such good care of us. I continue to be amazed of the hospitality of Thais. Well the beach was very pretty, but the water was what I loved. The ocean felt like bath water it was so warm. I couldnt believe it. We spend hours and hours just bobbing around. These random locals gave us a free ride on a banana boat, so that was exciting. Then we went out to their night market. It basically had the same things as the big markets here but the food was incredible. My favorite was this little desert that only cost 1 baht (about 2 cense in American), it was so so good. We kept going back to find more. Oh yea, that and their ridiculously delicious pinneaple. The next day i woke up early to go to the beach and lay
out, then we all treated ourselves to a Thai Massage. So for an hour of very incredible massaging, it cost... $5. Yea, soo crazy. I couldnt believe it. Then we hung out at a bar/club until our bus took us back to Bangkok around midnight. This would be fine normally but I had to be ready at 6 30 this morning to leave for the hospital to start my internship, oops, haha.
Well my internship is at a hospital right on the border of downtown Bangkok. They have a huge, two story department for Physical therapy (orthapedic and neurological centers). I switch Pt's every two weeks and have different ones in the morning and in the afternoon. The people who work at the hospitals are so young! But schools are much quicker here than in the U.S. There are lots of Pt students who are finishing up their last two years at the clinic I'm also at. They are so nice and helpful. I probably met like fifty Thai PT students today. Then this afternoon they had initiation for the first year PTs into the program. Well because it was my first day, they made me participate in this process.
Mountains
it had monkeys on it.... It was a candle light ceremony with a bunch of crazy stuff, but I did get a cool bracelet, haha. My internship is going to take up way more time than my roommates but I get to hang out with cool people all day so its all good. Oh yea, and almost 3/4 of the students speak very decent English. I met one today that had been to the U.S. and when I said I was from Tennessee he freaked out. He (Saan) said it was his favorite place in the US! He was like Elvis in Memphis and Smoky Mountain near Knoxville. I had no idea anyone from here would have a clue about Tennessee, just goes to show ya...
