Line outside the Vatican... It took us an hour and a half to get in Hello all from the great city of Roma!
Things are going great here in Rome. The trip here was not to bad at all. Starting in the morning when the sun woke us up in our tents in Florence. I think that Robyn ended up getting up at about 8am or so, and I just laid in bed for another half hour 😊 Packing all of our stuff in to our bags was easy this time due to the fact that we decided to get a new bag for the Italian leather coats that we bought. So now we have our backpacks as well as a large duffel bag that also has wheels on it. We checked out and were off to the train station. We got there about 12 and when we first got in we were told that there was a train at 1:15 or so that was a local train. Seeing the train board of departures we noticed that there were a few Euro Star trains heading out earlier so we went and got us some reservations for the train and cought the earlier train. The ride was about an hour and a half of relaxation and

Stealth Sistine Chapel photo then the bussel of the Rome train station. On to the metro and off to the campground we went. Getting to one station, with all our things intact, we caught a bus for the next part of the journey to the campground. The directions that we had for the campground were alittle vague about where to go from the bus, luckly it was easy. Getting off at the stop indicated we looked across the road and there was our next home. The beautiful Sunset Hill Campingvillage Roma! Checking in was eventful, because we had changed our minds and canceled our previouse booking for a dorm room of 12 beds for a bungalo for 2, apparently they had not gotten our booking. Things worked out in the end and here we are in this beautiful place. Spending the rest of our day relaxing next to the pool we made use of our welcome dinner and went to the market for some snacks and drinks.
Today we thought about going in to the city and checking out the Musei Vaticani and then wondering where our legs took us. Things went well and we were in the Museum by noon. The Sistine

Spanish Steps chapel was great and though we were no alowed to take pictures I was able to snap a few. For lunch after the Vatican we found this great little place down one of the side streets and had some great pasta for cheep. This place was in our book and they were right. Then off to the Gelato place for desert where they were watching the Simpsons in Italian. The TV voice overs got most of the voices realy close. Next over to the Spanish steps, though they were not designed or built by the spanish. The place was beautiful, there was a nice fountain at the bottom and the stairs themselves were worn down by the countless feet treading up and down them. At the top you can just see over the roofs of the city. There was some shopping done and some checking out of stores. Back to the bus we came home and signed up for a night tour for tomorrow night. Hopefuly it will run, they need eight people for the tour to run we are #3 and 4 so it looks good. Then I checked e-mail and wrote the blog and Robyn has gone to

Sunbathing at the campground phone her mom. I think that I will try my parents as well tonight.
All in all today was a great day and tomorrow looks just a good if not better. I should get going now so that Robyn will have some time to check her e-mail later. So talk to you all later and hope that things are going great for you all.
Love Dan and Robyn
PS Kath, in Venice we stayed in a little bungalo, in Florence we stayed in these tents, and in Rome we are staying in a Bungalo. (this is robyn now) Dude there is a serious lack of dirt at these camp sites, which is good seeing as showers can be scarce... but there is an abundance of lame-o campers! Its a lame-o camper haven here, which I think is wicked and is a fun way to camp if you are away for a long extended period of time. The ultimate are the crazy lame-o's who have satelite dishes set up outside there RV's....
