Heidi getting measured
I think she felt like a princess. Well, well, since there were no negative comments I have once again been given the privledge of writing a second blog--thank you all very much. Heidi did have her doubts before I sent the one about Halong Bay 😊
I have recovered from my bout of food poisioning- after one month of travelling and not really caring in what I ate I was bound to get it at some stage, unfortunately it was when we had to spend a day on the back of a motorbike. A day of clenched bum checks and being worried about vomiting down the back of the guy driving the motorbike is not cool. Once again- IT IS NOT COOL!
Currently, I am sitting in an A/C internet cafe in the heart of Hoi An, Heidi is sitting next to me, writing and checking emails. Looking across I see a huge grin on her face. Why? You ask. Because we are staying in the one of the clothes-making capitals of the world, and even with all my 'pleading,' she has, indeed, self-designed and had tailor-made: two coats, one shirt, and a pair of shoes.
However, all the fun she was having somehow rubbed off on me
The Beach
This is the beach 5km from Hoi An- we biked there on a 40c day! and yes I did indulge in having two jackets made. Designed by yours truly. I have my final 'fitting' tomorrow, darling. All very cheap and well worth it.
We have been here for four nights, staying at Thanh Binh Hotel II for $8USD, great room very clean and once again A/C- the daytime temp has been around 40C/100F degrees. Trying on winter coats in this temp must have to be one of the most uncomfortable things ever! After spending three days walking the streets finding tailor shops (not very hard considering there are over 200,) we finally settled on one called YALY. Heidi says they have really good material and do quality work. Do I trust her? (As if I know what good material and quality work should look like, I'm a guy!) But wait- I now know what double stiching is, how you can tell a good fabric from a bad one and even how to measure a woman for a bikini!
So everything is made and awaiting pickup tomorrow morning. We are catching a bus to Nha Trang at 6pm tommorow night, it gets in at 6AM! That means 12 hrs on a bus, whoa! I
am going to be one grumpy bugger when we get off. But getting to Nha Trang means we have three days lying on the beach. Oh and that reminds me, today was also spent lying on the beach while we waited for clothes to be made.
Hoi An is a cool little place- small streets and lots of restaurants/cafes/bars all showing the live football (soccer for you Americans) World Cup games. With such a diverse amount of travelers, the rivalry has been building and is now alive and kicking. Everyone saying how good their country is over another- the English definitely have the strongest following and the loudest (drunkest.) It has just added a whole new fun dimension to our travels, I can't imagine how you must be feeling actually being in Germany, Brooke! It's just a pity that little old New Zealand doesn't feature.
Well apart from having clothes made, we have not done much else here in Hoi An, so I look forward to a delightful 12 hour bus ride, and I'm sure Heidi will update you on that. (Mine could possibly be a little negative and I don't want anyone to think I'm not having
a great time😊
