Laundry time!
Sooo this is the laundry machine, and the dryer is a clothes line. :)
However, confession time,, there is an actual laundry machine in David's room here-- I have indulged. . . . Yikes! It's been almost 2 weeks!! Sorry folks, all is well!
Oh my I'm feeling MUCH better now. It's safe to say, that I hate the first 7-10 days of change anywhere I go. But now I'm more accustomed, getting the hang of things, my Spanish is picking up (long way to go) and I think I'm moving in with my American friend Julia. 😊 She needs a roommate, and I need a different place. The orphanage is great to come to and be a part of.. it's a different story to LIVE here. For example, some spoiled American "I wish I had's" hot water... my East TN friends and family that will be traveling to Gburg for our family reunion... imagine showering in the creek water-- EVERYDAY, a clean kitchen, just the other day a cockroach crawled across my plate (don't worry I still ate the sandwich), and lastly fluency in Spanish. However, this is something I can achieve 😊
Anyways, more info, my moving means obviously I won't be living on site. I expressed to the director that even though there is a need for English, there isn't much a of want for English here at the
:)
Yenny, she's so sweet. Has a really good head on her shoulders, and was nice to me from the beginning. home. I also have been humbled in learning that I'm not the best teacher to those that know nothing about English. So instead of forcing the girls to take a class that they couldn't care less about.. I'm just going to hang out with them! I'm going to paint their nails, and take them for coffee, or a movie, and have sleep overs, and do things that girls need at this age... a relationship with someone other than a "care taker."
Ok, so what's happened?! I got a paying job! To semi-support myself I'm continuing to look for more teaching jobs in addition to the one I have at an Instituto, it's called Speak Out. This is similar to an ESL school I think. I have 4 classes per week, 2 days per week. It's not much, but any income is good income right? (Insert inappropriate joke here) The director David arrived last week, and he's great. I honestly don't see much of him during the day but he is just a very good listener, and benevolent man. He and his wife, literally saw a need for a place like this, raised support, and started this orphanage. That's just
Hair time!
Jymela, oh this girl does my hair almost every other day. She is wonderful! We went out for ice cream last week and had a real conversation. She's been through a lot and still has a very kind spirit. crazy to me! Crazy in a good way. His wife unfortunately can't be travel anymore due to some health problems. So I know that must be hard on him.
I would say offer some prayers or warm thoughts for him while he's here, for her health, and the overall health of the orphanage.
Just so you all know, even though I'm enjoying Peruvian life a lot more now.. I still miss you dearly 😊
Much love!
PS- I added some photos, so venture around this site and find them! Haha, sorry I'm still learning how to navigate it myself! 😊 (that's what she said)
