the rest of yesterday continued to be wonderful! a momentary setback occurred when, at lunch, tina served us a meal that was only a little bit more mexican. therefore, spicy. remember who doesn´t like spicy foods, at all? ..oh yeah, me. i dunno. i tried it. i wanted to like it. but i just don´t get satisfaction out of eating a food that hurts my mouth. i got really embarrassed that i couldn´t eat it and also really mad at myself because i had been doing so well with trying (and liking!) everything new. that´s such a huge step for me, and for it not to continue made me pretty frustrated. oh well. it wasn´t that big a deal. tina gave me something else to eat (my eating wasn´t the problem, it was that i was frustrated that i couldn´t eat what she had prepared for us)... i just felt really bad about it. but i think its fine, she´s had people stay at her house that have had some crazy diets, so me not eating spicy food isn´t that big a deal. i hope.
after that, we went to the mercado de los artesanías. i bought a pretty cross to hang in the apartment next year, and leslee made ANOTHER new friend. this one was kinda weird though. he eventually left after following our group for a while. we got invited to two parties at discotecs. sweeeeet. 😊 too bad we´re gone on the weekends! haha.
downtown, we also went to an ice cream store. OOH. so good. haha. the lady who worked there insisted we try about 17 flavors before we picked one. it was so nice! she just kept handing us spoons of ice cream with flavors like corn, nuts, mango, strawberry, coffee, chocolate chip, rice, etc. i settled on rice flavored ice cream. it was amazing. tasted like ¨arroz con leche¨ (rice with milk) which is really similar to rice pudding. its a popular dessert here. there were also little pieces of rice IN the ice cream. different, but extreeemely tasty. i have a feeling we´ll go back soon 😊
today i turned in my essay and took my test. the test was extremely easy, which i am a fan of. i am going to go down the street in a few minutes to the gym.. after that who knows! its almost the weekend!!
tomorrow morning we leave for mexico city. we are going to some museums and a play. i am a little nervous about going to mexico city because of the pollution (apparently at the end of the day you feel like you have a really bad cold because of it. yuck. what a hard way to live!!!), and because it is a big scary city. we´ll all be in a group though so it will be fine.
