Hi everyone. Well, today we sailed through what they call the 'bora'....gusts up to 37kns. Lost the boarding plank overboard, snapped one of the turning blocks on the self furler, and despite best intentions had to concede and wind in self furler and motor. Full wet weather gear...believe me, might not be the best look but boy was it good!! Tested the inexperience and nerves in this novice sailor but the skipper was awesome and we are now safely tied up for the night in Sukosan. Have spent the last two nights on Otuk Olib in Olib town as the weather really came in and we needed to find a safe harbor. It was an amazing little town - only 150 people live there now - were 2000 there 100 years ago. So many ruined houses which you would just love to restore. No school and only 3 kids on the island - all under 3!! Found ourselves a lovely restaurant and we the talk of the town at the local bar...get this - a beer, red wine and two gin & tonics for $6.00.... Couldn't buy a drink in the end as we were 'the Aussies' and what is more
Sunset at Prosec
You are probably getting a little tired of sunset shots but can't help myself!!met a ship's captain who had family connections to Freo!! Weather improves tomorrow and we head for Sibenik and on to Skradin. On Sunday night we moored in this just beautiful bay - Luka Krivica - tiny bay with clear warm water and ruins on each side. I'll post some pictures. Dined on home cooked spaghetti bol tonight accompanied by a bottle of Austrian red compliments of our delightful neighbors at Olib. Be an early night for us tonight. Wind has dropped right off so we are snug for the night. Till later.
