1. This article relates to what we are doing in class because we have recently read Hamurabi's Code. This series of judgements indicates the way women were treated in the Mesopotamian society. The judgements show that women were considered inferior to some extent. Similarly the article discusses the inequality that women face when it comes to the salary they receive when compared to men.
2. From this article I learned not only the reasons why women may get paid less than men but women's role in this issue as well. The article mentions that women tend to incline themselves toward jobs that most women get. For example, many women incline toward becoming secretaries and nurses. This shows me that the actions of women affect future generations. I also learned that women's salary can be affected by their skill and education not solely on discrimination.
3. The quote that surprised me when I read it was where people who had a sex change still had an unfair pay. Women who became men got a 1.5% increase in salary, and men that became women earned a decrease of 32%. This shocked me because it is not only women who are not treated fairly in regards to pay but transgender peoples well. Even though society is more openly accepting people's sexual orientations, there is still judgement against them.
