So I packed my bags for 5 months.........shorts - check; tshirts - check; undies, PJs, toothbrush; my Blue Card etc - check .....you get the picture.........

So, I'm out of town for months and need cash......right? So guess who left their fully loaded Travelex cards at home somewhere? Hmmm, also left my USB at home with my lessons etc.......but I can redo those easily, so not worries. Just need to sort out the card/cash situ....thank goodness I brought cash....I've emailed house-sitter, and will try to contact Travelex tomorrow to see if they can offer a solution.

I've never, ever left anything behind.....I'm blaming it on the drugs I was taking for the chest infection - my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Apart from that, my trip up to Phnom Penh was good. Had great company on the flight up - interesting Rosemary from the UK who at 70+ is travelling as much as possible before she "checks out".........then today, met Adam from Sydney who is backpacking before moving to the UK to live for awhile....we had a great chat and it made it a really pleasant trip.

Have moved into the apartment and met my roomies and many of the other volunteers in our neighbouring apartments. I think it's going to be very busy & social time. Such a wide variety of people, nations and skills etc.........stayed tuned...

Oh, and it's HOT, really hot.........but that's ok, our room has air-con, woohoo.

I've already struck up a bargain with one of the locals to teach him English in return for him teaching me Khmer....looking forward to that.................He's also said that I can use his motorbike.....hmmmm, great offer, but will have to see if I'm brave enough to take on the challenge of riding on these absolutely crazy, manic, insane streets with cars, bikes, buses and trucks going every which way except the one you'd expect !!!

Turns out the public holidays next week, have pretty much started early (a bit like Christmas is Oz), so many of the other volunteers are free from Wednesday onwards. My placement isn't taking an early break, so will work through til Friday. Most of the other volunteers are going to Siem Reap for the weekend, so I may head to Kampot to catch up with Jo Turner & co as I will be in S.R. for a month from November.

Bye for now..........I'm off to get some sleep as I have my induction tomorrow...........

Woo hoo and off you go.....
Apart from the little hiccup with the cash cards (Travelex will fix no worries) it sounds like you're off to a great start. Stay cool, stay safe and enjoy every moment. Bigs hugs. Sylvi xo
