Moving Bryan Out
A big moment seeing that U-Haul parked outside. Exactly three weeks from today we will be boarding a plane heading east and will continue on this eastward bound journey (zig-zagging through the northern and southern hemispheres) until we have made it full circle, home again.
A lot of progress has been made since our last blog. The biggest hurdle being Bryan’s home sale. We were stressed for a bit, because there was no activity on it for a little over a month, but in the sixth week there were several people through and an offer made. I would say things have gone smoothly as far as the sale is concerned. Marina told me not to get excited until he has check in hand and has handed over the keys. I guess my little teenager has learned a thing or two about counting your eggs before they’re hatched. But the keys will be handed over this week so I’m beginning to believe we will really board the plane after all.
I finished teaching May 26th. I cried like a baby when one of my team teachers read a poem for me at the staff breakfast. It has been 10 years since I began my first year of teaching
Bryan's Home in Phoenix
We thought we'd post some pictures of our homes for those times when we are homesick and want to remember "home". and as much as I’m following a life’s dream, it was a bitter-sweet moment to finish up this school year. I kept thinking, is this going to be my last time doing this or that? It’s comforting to know I can return to teaching after this year of travel is done, but who knows who I will be at that time and what I’ll want to do.
I rented a 10x20 foot storage unit just up the street from my home last week. We packed what Bryan decided to keep (mostly tools) into a U-Haul and drove it down from Phoenix over Memorial Day. Now that we see how much space we have, we’re thinking a garage sale this weekend is needed in order to weed out some of my furniture, etc. I met with a property management company and they have listed my home for lease, available July 1st. We’ll need to put in new carpeting in the bedrooms, paint the bathroom, and move all of my belongings into the storage unit before we leave.
As promised, I took Marina school shopping the other day. She ended the year with 6 A’s, 1 B, and 1 C,
Bryan's Handi-Work
As much as I'd like to, I can not take any credit for this packing job. It was all Bryan. But hey, not one item was broken when we arrived in Marana. so I also treated her to a movie. I spoiled her with lots of her favorite designer brands but I figured she will only start high-school once. She was in an especially good mood for about two days, even unloading the dishes with-out my asking. I managed to find some clothes for myself too. The last purchase I needed was a bathing suit (painful experience trying to find that) but if I had to pack my backpack today, I now have everything I need.
Bryan, Marina, and I took a trip to Nogales, Mexico to buy the many prescriptions our travel clinic had written. In most cases it is much cheaper to buy medicine there. The largest prescription was for 500 malaria (doxycyclene) pills. We went to three pharmacies but heard the same thing at each. They sold them by the box of 10 for about $15 a box. We did the math and that would be 50 boxes costing $750. Obviously, that would not work. I found a website located in Canada and was able to purchase the 500 pills for $185 with free shipping. I don’t understand the discrepancy between countries and medical costs. Why is health

The next blog I enter may well be from Dublin, Ireland. We have tickets for June 27th, to arrive in Dublin June 28th at 6:55 AM. I’ve told Bryan we’ll get off the plane and head straight for the Guinness Brewery tour (only half teasing). We will use this blog to keep in touch with everyone, so please don’t hesitate to send a message.

Very exciting!!!
Congratulations on selling the house quickly. I am sure it was very hard the last day of school, but it will all be worth it once you get on the road. Good luck in the next 3 weeks, they sound excruciatingly busy.......Cannot wait to hear about your journeys. Best wishes. Please keep in touch. Love, Geri
