After having a fantastic sleep in until noon, Cor and I got ready and made our way up the steps towards the castle. We then went over the mound and through the Princes Street Gardens in order to make our way to Princes St. which is where there is quite a bit of shopping (my favourite has to be Marks & Spencer because I can buy work clothes there that aren't totally lame and not crazy expensive). I made a few purchases at Marks & Spencer, Top Shop ( a cute bunny dress - yes, I am almost 31 years old), and of course BHS for our new towels.

We met Jemma after she was off work and headed towards one of my favourite little bars for a quick drink - Jeckyll and Hydes on Hanover. While not as creepy during the day as at night, I like all of the old medicine bottles on the wall and the fact that it's a hidden bookcase to get into the toilets. Last year, I only came my first night and had a pear cider. This year, I plan to have one of each of the "deadly sins" drinks just to say

At some point this week, all seven of these will have been in my belly.
that I did. I had gluttony, Corwin had greed, and Jemma tried envy. I assumed that the drinks would be terrible and boozy and maybe something like a prairie fire - but they went down super easy, which is probably why they are sins.

We then headed to Mother India on Infirmary Street for our reservation (they don't take reservations for the month of August because of Fringe, so this was our last chance!), which is an Indian tapas restaurant. We ordered WAY too much food (including amazing butter chicken with cardamom, aubergine fitters, aloo gobi, popodoms with coriander chutney, dhal makhani, chili king prawns, mushroom bhaji, and naan). While there was a bit of a mix up in service and a couple of things like rice and tea were missed, they definitely made up for it by paying for dessert. We had tablet ice cream, which is Scottish rather than Indian, but a perfect way to finish the meal.

We then hit up the Royal Oak next door for a drink and some folk music. We moved on, but it ended up being 20 minute pub night because we would show up somewhere and it would be closing (maybe because it was the Sunday before Fringe???)....the Jolly Judge off the Royal Mile which seems like a great place to have a more quiet and less crowded drink since it's down a close, Under the Stairs on Merchant , and then we finally finished at Three Sisters on the Cowgate. Finally, we headed home after Three Sisters closed....we'll save up for tomorrow 😊

Tablet is super sweet and is comparable to fudge (but much better). Definitely delicious if you have a sweet tooth!
