My last two weeks of travels I decided to take pretty easy and spend most of my time on the beach 😉
Week 36 (June 6-12) started off pretty low key. Monday I had just gotten back from morocco so Tuesday was my first day back to work. It was also the last day of preparations before the 4th grade English test so I helped out in their class all day rather than attend my normal classes. In the one day I worked with them I think some will do okay, but I don't think they will do as well as 2nd graders did. After school I had a few private lessons (now that it is June my lessons are bring canceled more often), and overall they went pretty well.
Wednesday, once again, I was with the 4th graders. However, my entire day consisted of taking them to and from the exam room. Outside of these two days the rest of the work week passed as normal. However, I did end up working on Friday to make up for missing Monday, where I played a ton of hangman with the 2nd graders.
Saturday I met up with Laura
and Kate (her friend from the states) and we climbed on a 4 hour bus ride to Valencia! As soon as we arrived at the coast we dropped our bags at the hostel, changed into our suits and headed to the beach. We spent a few hours lying around and swimming in the ocean. After we went back to the hostel and cleaned up, we headed out to explore the city. We went to a few plazas and admired the stunning cathedral before deciding to relax with a glass of sangria. After we were done exploring we headed off in search of paella. We found a really nice place that honestly had the most amazing paella I have yet to find in Spain. After dinner we decided to sit in a plaza and we stayed there late into the night.
Sunday we slept in, packed up or stuff and headed to the beach for a good 4 hours. Finally we had to get a move on, so we grabbed our stuff and headed to an amazing Chinese buffet before catching our bus back to Madrid. It was a very relaxing trip but we had a ton of fun.
Week 37 (June 13-19) was another very relaxed week. School and my private lessons passed without incident. I continued to play hangman and more of my lessons were being canceled because the school year is coming to a close. But Thursday night I packed my bags for my last trip in Spain.
Friday morning the bus dropped me off in Cadiz, and the warm southern sun 😉. I headed to my hostel and then straight to the beach. I spent a few hours there and then decided to see more of the city. I saw a bunch of the must see sights including community buildings and churches, however there isn't much to see in Cadiz so I mostly walked along the beach, port and a few parks. As the sun was starting to set I headed back to beach where I had a gorgeous view. That night I joined a group on our hostels terrace for paella and games.
Saturday I woke up and joined the hostel on a free walking tour. They took us out into the city (many places I had already been to) and I got to learn more of the history of this city.
And of course the tour ended at the beach where we jumped in the ocean. The rest of the day I spent soaking up the rays got well over 6 hours. Afterwards I got cleaned up and headed to the other side of town for another stunning sunset. When I got back to the hostel some of my roommates were going to go watch flamenco so I joined them. The show was very different than any I have seen thus far. It was actually in a flamenco school and thus had a wide range of dancers. It started with adorable little girls dancing, and moved up in age groups every few minutes. One of the groups consisted of all girls and one Down syndrome boy who did a fabulous job. Of course the last group was the best (they were the oldest) but all of them did a fabulous job. Afterwards I headed back to the hostel and called it a night.
Sunday I spent most of my day on the bus, making my way back to Madrid. I still have a week and a half in Spain and these last two trips were a great way to end
the year. I definitely enjoyed being a beach bum 😊.
