When we arrived at the Plaza where the D’Uomo is, Mass was being said, so I can say I went to Mass. Well, part of it. It was pretty amazing how many people were there. You could actually hear Mass echoing throughout the streets of the central area. I wonder if they have that big a Mass every week! Needless to say, we couldn’t actually sight see right away… soooo we headed off in search of the Last Supper. We found it. Kind of. Except the tickets are sold out til Fri so needless to say we didn’t actually SEE it. Oh well! We tried!

We decided to encounter the Castle before heading back to the D’Uomo. We didn’t actually go into any of the museums, but walked through the park beyond it to an arch…forgot the name of it but it served as the connection between the park and a main avenue. Thennnn we walked back and stopped at a café in the park to have a refresco and I had a panino. There was a baby sitting next to us…I’d put her at about 10 or 11 months or so. It was cute watching her eat her bread—picking

little pieces off. Later she was sharing it with her mother(?) and then reached over to share it with me but couldn’t figure out why I would only pretend to take a bite…over and over and over! It was super cute. I made friends with an Italian baby. :P A really cute Italian baby at that.

Next up, D’Uomo. Again. This time they told us we couldn’t enter until 5. It was only about 3:30 so the only logical decision was to go for Gelato. Of course it was amazing. We sat on a bench to eat it, staring through arches and looked at architecture you could only find in Europe. Pretty amazing. Don’t have that at home. We chilled out until it was time to return to the D’Uomo and luckily I thought ahead this time to cover my shoulders and knees (though they weren’t turning away people in shorts; just if shoulders weren’t covered). I’m not sure I was really supposed to take photos in there but I turned into a crowd follower. Well, everyone ELSE was doing it! I think the architecture on the outside is very impressive though I found the inside of the Catedral

in Sevilla more interesting, however, the D’Uomo’s stained glass windows are quite striking—very colorful.

We then headed back to our hostel/hotel and chilled out for a bit, caught up online and then headed for dinner. We ate at the same restaurant tonight as we did last night. I realllllly needed a salad so I stuffed myself with bread, salad and…more pasta! Last night’s was my favorite of the two (stuffed pasta with asparagus and cheese sauce), but tonight’s was pretty good too! (linguini with artichokes and sliced parmesan. Both nights we had to tally the bill ourselves—watch it when you travel and always check the math so you do not get overcharged!!

Going to bed “early” as tomorrow am we’re heading to Venice! We’re pretty close to the train station so hopefully we won’t have any shenanigans getting there. The only trouble will be figuring out what to do with our stuff since we’re not actually staying overnight in Venice but need to travel to our hostel in Florence.

Sidenote: There are a lot of guys in Milan that try to get you to take birdseed to feed the pigeons. Ummm, thanks but no thanks. I don’t know what you want but I’m pretty sure I’m good just looking at them. After all, they came right up to me without me coaxing them with food. Also, there are guys who walk up to you and try to get you to take a “free” bracelet. I don’t know what they want either, but it kind of reminded me of the rosemary that the gypsies tried to push into our hands in Granada (everywhere we were in Spain actually). I had to shake one off my wrist because he placed it on my wrist when I walked by. Make sure you’re not busy doing something when those guys are around! We did get suckered into one of the mime/actors on the street. He motioned with his finger for us to come close one at a time, stand on the block with him and get our picture taken. It was kinda funny. Dropped .10 in afterward…it’s ok, they’re actually fun.

Glad you enjoyed your visit! but... the word "Duomo" (literally "Dome", used to designate Cathedrals in Italy)is spelled like this, not "D'Uomo", which literally means "of man" (usually in this form used to designate mankind e.g. "a misura d'uomo" - "on a human scale")... ok I'll stop nitpicking. Sorry for that and ciao from Milano!

Duomo
Thanks...I actually wondered about that because I saw it spelled the other way and questioned it but didn't put much thought into why. Now I know what it really should be!
