The very beginning And our trek begins. Up bright and early once again we meet in the lobby of our hotel and set out on the bus to begin our Inca Trail experience! 5kg in our duffel bags for the porters to carry including our sleeping bags was not alot and so vey have very minimaloptios of clothes for the 4 days!! Stiiiinky! 😊 It wasn't a fab start as one of our porters forgot their id so had to be sent home and replaed by another.
They have 500 ppl enter the inca train everyday - 200 tourists and 300 porters and guides etc. We had 8 in our group - 6 from our tour and another couple from aus. Once the porters were loaded up with 25kg!!!!! on their backs and set off we were ready to go. a bit of rain started with us but very quickly eased. the first day was fun. a bit of up and down and straight when it came to the tracks and our group managed to all stay together. We stopped for lunch at about 2pm and the porters had set up everything for us. peruvians eat sooooo much food!! that 1st lunch we

The group of amazong porters had tea, soup, garlic bread, spag bol and a half avocado each with roast veges on it! pretty amazing! then off we went again.
In total we did 12km on day 1 and saw some amazing sights also. we were all pretty shattered and just wanted to sleep when we reached our destination! - This persons house which looked like a slum which we were camping in the backyard of!! No toilets except a stinky very stinky hole in the ground with no loo paper - good times (we soon got used to getting our squat on!!) We had to meet at 5.30 for "tea" - HUGE amounts of popcorn and animal biscuits and herbal tea, played cards, had a MASSIVE dinner again and then went to bed.
The next day was promised to be a very hard day so we were all a lil concerned about that but looking forward to the challenge all the same.
