Today we got up early to go to another castle. It was called the Villandry but it was known for its gardens more than its castle. Phillipe came to pick us up to drive us to the castle at 9am. It was the first time we had seen him since he was living with us in New Zealand. The drive took about an hour and a half as the castle is one of the furtherest away. Once we arrived we went and brought our tickets which where only for the garden as we didn’t feel we needed to see the castle.

The gardens where huge! They were so well kept for such a big area. The first part we went into was filled with bright colourful vegetables. The section was divided into 6 smaller sections. On each section there was a fountain in the middle and both sides of the fountain mirrored each other. We then went up behind it where a much smaller garden was with different types of spices growing there. From there we went to the erovn also known as a maze which wasn’t as well kept as the other gardens.

We then moved on to the Sun Garden and had a look through there then carried on through a little playground to another colourful garden. This one had curvy paths going diagonally through each side of the garden with a path going straight through the middle. We walked through it and out the other side and into a huge area with a massive oval shape lake in the middle and 2 fountains on each side of the lake with circle bushes around them. It wasn’t as colourful and decorative as the others but I really liked it and it was my favourite garden.

We walked through it and up the other side into the forest. There was a path going through it and halfway through there was a little look out where you could see most of the gardens. The gardens from a far distance looked amazing especially the ones with the colourful flowers. We were there for ages looking at the gardens and taking heaps of photos. The last garden we saw was called the Love Garden. It was filled with pink and blue flowers surrounded by green hedges.

Afer the Villandry Phillipe took us to Tours where we had lunch. On the way home we stopped at two winneries where mum and dad brought some wine and Sophia and I got some jucie.
