My 5th country, and what a way to enter it. Sailing down the Danube at 50 mph with the wind battering my face and beautiful lush forests on either side...heavenly.

I arrived in Vienna, found my hostel easily enough. Checked in. Spent some time pottering around the hostel before going the museum of contemporary art (MAK). My reasons for visiting this museum were 2 fold. One: it sounded interesting and different to any other museums I´d seen in the past, and two: it was free on Saturdays.

When I left my hostel I was wearing shorts and sandals because of how hot it was, however, by the time I´d left the hostel it was pissing it down with rain and I felt completely underdressed,

I decided that I would go to a Viennese restaurant that was recommended in my travel guide for being good value for money. However, when I got there I found that the cheapest main they had was 8 euros. Not very cheap at all. So instead I went to a pizza place I´d seen on my to this restaurant. 5.90 for a good sized margharita I thought was good value. It was, however, the beer wasn´t at 3.50 a half litre.

Tomorrow there is the Vienna Prater May Festival, which is a festival that is celebrating the anniversary of labour day. I´m meeting up with one of the Austrians I met in Amsterdam there. Should be nice.

Day 14
The boat trip sounds wonderful darling though I'm surprised they let it go so quickly down the Danube - must have created quite a wash!
